TDOT crews shut down I-24 in Mounteagle due to big rig collision

MOUNTEAGLE, TN – The Transportation Department of Tennessee had to shut down both directions of I-24 after a driver of a big rig crashed into a median wall Wednesday.

According to WSMV, crews have not been able to provide many details about this crash. However, they did confirm that the collision happened at milepost 133 when the driver was going down Monteagle Mountain. A photo indicates the semi blocking several lanes and some possible rear-end damage.

Delays can be expected. Drivers in the area are advised to seek alternative routes if possible. However, if they absolutely must get past this wreck, they can do so by driving on the shoulder.

No injuries were reported at this time. Additional information will be posted as our newsroom becomes available.
