Male motorcyclist, 25, dies after hitting trash truck in Summerville

SUMMERVILLE, SC – A 25-year-old man riding a Yamaha motorcycle lost his life when he crashed into a trash truck Monday.

South Carolina Highway Patrol told Counton2 that this collision happened around 7 a.m. near SC 61 when, for reasons unclear, the 25-year-old man, later identified as Thomas Price from Cottageville, had drifted from U.S. Highway 17 South into the northbound lanes.

While very few details are available, the driver of the garbage truck (who was unharmed) claimed that the motorcyclist caused this crash.

Troopers confirmed that Price succumbed to fatal wounds at the collision site at exactly 7:58 a.m. Price’s autopsy report, provided by the Medical University of South Carolina, should be available on or after Wednesday, May 15th.

The Dorchester County Coroner’s Office and troopers launched an investigation but have not provided additional details at this time.
