NEAR BLOUNTSTOWN, FL – A semi-truck driver and passenger sustained minor injuries, and a 47-year-old man driving a Pepsi van died after a head-on crash after 1 p.m. Friday.
Florida Highway Patrol told WDHN that the van driver, a 47-year-old man from Bristol, Florida, was going east on State Road 20 when he, for reasons unclear, went into westbound lanes, thus leading him to collide head-on with the semi.
The Bristol man succumbed to fatal wounds at the scene.
Troopers did not clarify if the semi driver, a 26-year-old man from Dothan, and the semi passenger, a 24-year-old man from Midland City, were hospitalized. However, they did confirm that all parties wore their seat belts.
Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, Calhoun County EMS, the Blountstown Fire Department, and the West Side Fire Department were also summoned to the scene.
