BESSEMER CITY, NC – A driver of one semi-truck got a flat tire on I-85, tried to pull over, and was hit by another semi, leading the second semi to catch on fire and claim one life Sunday.
This collision happened around 4 p.m. near Highway 29 when the driver of the second semi-truck was supposedly speeding, according to QC News. After the speeding semi-truck driver crashed into the truck with the flat tire, the driver succumbed to fatal wounds, while the driver with the flat tire sustained minor injuries.
Local and state police and fire crews were all summoned to the scene.
Authorities have not released the name of the deceased person or said if the driver who survived was taken to a hospital.
Officials had to shut down the area to accommodate the scene clearance process and for their investigation. As such, they redirected drivers to Edgewood Road.
New information will be provided should it become available.
