Tanker truck overturns in El Paso, causing fuel spill with fatality

EL PASO, TX – A man operating a tanker truck lost his life after the truck rolled over on U.S. 62 and spilled diesel fuel onto the road Friday afternoon. 

The El Paso Fire Department, who were among the first responders called to the scene, told KFOXTV that the truck was carrying an estimated 9,000 gallons of diesel fuel. 

Other fire departments that helped render aid were Montana Vista and Desert Haven. Additional authorities included the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Hudspeth County Sheriff’s Office, and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

Officials have not released the victim’s name at this time.
