LEE COUNTY, TX – A man and a woman were left in critical condition after their SUV caught on fire upon colliding with a tractor-trailer carrying barrels of crude oil Sunday.
This collision occurred before 11 a.m. at the U.S. 290 and FM 180 Road intersection, according to KBTX. In preliminary details, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office indicated that the truck was trying to merge on eastbound U.S. 290 when they collided with the SUV.
Giddings Fire Department, South Lee County Fire Department, and Lincoln Fire Department were all able to extinguish the flames.
Giddings Police, the Texas Department of Public Safety,d Fayette County EMS also responded to the scene.
Authorities did not confirm if the truck driver was injured.
