Passenger dies after SUV vs. tractor-trailer wreck near Henry County Airport

HENRY COUNTY, TN – A 72-year-old woman died last Tuesday, July 16, due to a two-vehicle collision on the Paris Bypass in northwest Paris, reports Radio NWTN.

The fatal accident unfolded at the intersection with State Highway 69, at about 12:30 p.m.

Tennessee Highway Patrol officials said a 72-year-old was driving a 2017 Buick Envoy eastbound on the 218 Bypass when the SUV collided with a 2017 Kenworth T880 truck heading northbound on Highway 69.

Investigators learned that neither occupant of the Buick Envoy was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The 72-year-old woman, who was a passenger, succumbed to her injuries.

No specific information about the condition of the Buick driver was made available, but the driver of the Kenworth, a 53-year-old, was not reported hurt. He was found to have been wearing a seatbelt.

An investigation by the THP was underway.
