Man, 34, loses life after tanker truck rollover wreck in Toomsboro

TOOMSBORO, GA – A 34-year-old Macon man named Antwan Henley died after his tanker truck crashed and rolled over on GA 57 Sunday.

According to 13MAZ, the events unraveled around 6 p.m. when the driver veered off the lanes and overcorrected, which caused the vehicle to flip over. The tanker detached and spilled more than 8,000 gallons of fuel on the road. EMS crews were quick to rush Henley to Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin, where he passed away.

Wilkinson County officials and Macon hazmat fire crews stayed behind to tend to the scene clearance process. Authorities said the fuel spilled into a ditch near Commissioner Creek. Officials closed the highway between  Oochee Creek and Balls Ferry Road for an extended period of time. The Environmental Protection Agency or Georgia’s Environmental Protection Divisions has not confirmed if the spill proved to be environmentally hazardous.
