Semi-truck crash, sulfur spill, blocks I-75, US-27 transition

OCALA, FL – A collision involving a big rig shut down a busy freeway transition in Ocala late Monday night.

According to WKMG, the crash took place at about 11:15 p.m. along the ramp from I-75 to US-27.

the driver of the tractor-trailer did not notice a car in the adjacent lane and collided with the vehicle while attempting a lane change. The truck then struck a concrete barrier, causing the trailer to detach, and the cab to overturn.

The truck’s driver, a 38-year-old man from Pensacola, sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Meanwhile, the 21-year-old woman driving the car emerged unscathed.

As a result of the crash, rock-form sulfur was spilled across lanes of US-27 below. The southbound exit ramp remains inaccessible until further notice, with authorities urging motorists to find alternate routes.
