Driver dies after car hits semi parked along I-75 in Ocala

MARION COUNTY, FL — A car collided with a stationary semi-truck Wednesday morning in Ocala, claiming the life of a 27-year-old woman, reports WCJB.

According to a traffic camera capture, the fatal accident unfolded on the northbound lanes of Interstate 75 at mile marker 357.7 just south of the exit to State Highway 326. It was first reported some time after 9:45 a.m.

Florida Highway Patrol officials said the woman was driving a car when she veered to the left of the roadway, causing the vehicle to rear-end the trailer of the semi-truck, which was parked on the paved emergency lane of the interstate.

First responders pronounced the woman, a local resident, deceased at the scene.

No injuries to the driver of the truck or anyone else have been reported.
