HOUSTON COUNTY, AL — A three-year-old child has died following a two-vehicle wreck last Wednesday, November 29, in southwest Dothan, according to CBS42.
The accident happened in the 2300 block of Ross Clark Circle at around 2:05 p.m.
Little information has been shared at this time, but Dothan Police Department officials say the young child was traveling inside a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck driven by an adult woman. As the pickup exited an area parking lot, it collided with a 2007 Freightliner. The impact of the crash sent both the pickup and the semi across the median and into traffic.
Dothan Police arrived on the scene to find bystanders trying to assist the toddler and the female driver.
The child, who was thrown from the pickup during the crash, was rushed to Southeast Health before being flown to Children’s of Alabama, where he was listed in critical condition. Officials confirmed he succumbed to his injuries on Saturday, December 2.
The driver, whose identity remains undisclosed, was transported to Southeast Heath for a broken arm.
While a 2011 Mazda 3 was hit by crash debris, no one else was injured.
An investigation remains open and ongoing.
