Fiery tanker truck vs train crash reported near SW Birmingham high school

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Multiple agencies responded to a fiery crash involving a train and a tanker truck Friday afternoon in southwest Birmingham, reports AL.com.

The accident happened in the 2800 block of Wilson Road, near Wenonah High School. Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service crews and Birmingham police arrived on the scene shortly after receiving calls at 3:51 p.m.

While the circumstances of the event remain under investigation, officials indicated that the collision caused the truck to overturn and ignited a fire.

No injuries were immediately reported, but crews were faced with the task of clearing 3,900 gallons of spilled diesel fuel from the roadway.
