Big rig carrying 55,000 pounds of peas overturns in Fauquier Co.

FAUQUIER COUNTY, VA – A driver of a big rig hauling 55,000 pounds of peas crashed into a guardrail, and then the truck rolled over Friday.

This collision happened when the other driver was making an “unsafe lane change” on I-66 West, according to WJLA. While the tractor-trailer was not struck, its driver was still caught off guard, leading them to hit the rail.

Despite the nature of this single-truck collision, the driver escaped injuries. However, due to the significant mess, crews had to close a significant portion of I-66 West.

Virginia State Police have taken on this investigation but have not released other information at this time.
