Car catches fire after colliding with truck in Columbia, occupants flee

MAURY COUNTY, TN — Authorities are searching for multiple people who fled the scene of a fiery two-vehicle crash Wednesday night in Columbia, according to WSMV.

The incident unfolded in the area of Campbellsville Pike and Sunnyside Lane at about 8:30 p.m.

A preliminary investigation indicates several people inside a sedan were able to exit after the vehicle was involved in a crash with a white truck.

First responders arrived on the scene to find the car engulfed in flames. After fleeing on foot, the people from the car appear to have gotten into another car and fled the scene.

No major injuries have been reported at this time.

An investigation by the Tennessee Highway Patrol remains underway.
