DEKALB COUNTY, AL — A man died Tuesday morning following a pedestrian crash involving a UPS Freightliner truck in Fort Payne, reports WAFF.
Fort Payne Police Department officials said the incident took place in the area of Gault Avenue North and Greenhill Boulevard Northwest, also known locally as the North-Y.
An early investigation shows the victim, local resident Cameron Mitchell McGill, 48, had stepped into the path of a 2022 Freightliner truck that was turning onto northbound Gault Avenue. Authorities said the driver did not have enough time to avoid the male pedestrian, who was hit by the truck.
First responders pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.
An investigation by Fort Payne Police remains ongoing.
