FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA – A tire fell off a tractor-trailer, leading the driver to lose control of the truck, causing a rollover collision on I-495 North Monday.
Virginia State Police and Virginia Department of Transportation told DC News Now that this solo crash happened at mile marker 43.5, the exit leading to the George Washington Memorial Parkway exit. After arriving, officials closed off the northbound lanes, which resulted in delays that still were active by 8:25 a.m. before reopening at 11 a.m.
Despite the nature of this crash, the driver escaped injuries.
