HENRICO, VA – A box truck driver traveling on I-95 South veered off the shoulder and then struck a VDOT truck before hitting a guardrail, leading the box truck to overturn Tuesday.
This collision happened around 2 a.m. along Hermitage Road, 12 On Your Side revealed. Virginia State Police, who responded to the scene, said the driver of the VDOT truck was responding to an initial collision that took place. The impact, they said, led the box truck to eventually come to rest 30 yards into a ravine.
Officers did not specify if the box truck driver was injured, but they did say that the VDOT motorist was unharmed and that the box truck driver was summoned to appear in court.
Drivers approaching the area should know that the I-95 off-ramp, which connects to Westbrook Avenue, is currently shut down. The closure ends at Crestwood Drive. Crews haven’t announced when all closures will be lifted, so motorists should avoid the area altogether.
