MOUNT SOLON, VA – A driver of a minivan crashed into a big rig, hauling live chickens, sending the van motorist and truck driver to separate hospitals Monday.
This crash happened on Route 42 South as the driver of the truck was coming out of Scenic View Farms on going onto Route 42 North, WHSV reports.
The impact of this wreck caused significant front-end damage to the Black Chrysler town & country can.
Upon arrival, medical helicopter personnel transported the van driver to UVA Medical, and ambulance crews took the tractor-trailer driver to RMH for a medical evaluation. At the time of the reporting, first responders said that the chickens appeared to have been okay.
Due to the aftermath of this collison, Mount Solon Fire and Rescue crews had to shut down both directions in order to accommodate the scene clean-up procedure and the standard investigation process.
