1 killed in fiery collision with overturned box truck in Petersburg 

PETERSBURG, VA – One person was killed in a fiery collision that involved an overturned box truck on I-95 Tuesday, 12onyourside reports. 

Authorities said the events unfolded around 5:30 a.m. when the box truck driver was traveling on the southbound lanes and then veered into the northbound lanes. The driver then crashed into a vehicle, causing the car to catch fire and the box truck to flip over and spill fuel. 

The driver of the vehicle was trapped inside their car and died from their injuries at the scene. 

Prince George County Fire and EMS were among the many first responders. Officials at the scene immediately issued a several-hour-long shutdown and reopened the interstate before 10:30 a.m.  

Officials have not released the victim’s name, said if the truck driver was injured, or said why the truck driver lost control of their vehicle.
