1 hospitalized after fiery semi-truck wreck with car near Vienna

NEAR VIENNA, VA – One person was sent to a hospital, and a semi-truck caught on fire after a crash involving a red sedan on I-66 just before Nutley Street Monday.

Fairfax County fire crews were summoned to the scene before 1:15 p.m., according to FFXNow. After arriving, firefighters shut down all westbound lanes. Crews reopened at least one left lane at Exit 62 A around 2:30 p.m. to accommodate the flow of traffic.

The hospitalized individual appeared to have been recovering from non-life-threatening injuries. Crews did not specify whether the occupant was traveling in the car or truck. However, the scanner call reveals that it was likely the truck driver or passenger, as they were requesting medical aid.

Authorities are working to determine the events leading to the crash. At this time, they have not announced formal criminal charges.
