PRAIREVILLE, LA – A 48-year-old man was killed after getting hit by a trash truck and another vehicle on U.S. 61 south of LA 42 Tuesday, WAFB said.
Preliminary details show that the 48-year-old man was driving a 2012 Toyota Camry when he crashed it. The car driver, identified as Travis Weams, a Prairieville local, exited his vehicle, walked across the median, and went into a northbound lane where he got hit by a 2019 Mack trash truck and a 2016 Ford Mustang.
Weams succumbed to his injuries at the scene prior to first responders arriving.
Louisiana State Police are working to determine whether impairment or intoxication played a role. Troopers and crews shut down Airline Highway for several hours and cleared the scene by 9 a.m.
