ROUND ROCK, TX – A 10-vehicle wreck on I-35, which involved a trash truck, claimed the life of a 35-year-old woman and injured three people Monday.
Round Rock police said that the events began before 11:45 a.m. when one driver made a quick last-minute lane change and struck another vehicle. Several other drivers saw what happened and tried to avoid an initial crash. Moments later, a trash truck driver swerved to avoid the wreck but veered off the northbound lanes and into the southbound lanes and crashed into many other vehicles.
First responders confirmed the 35-year-old man succumbed to her injuries at the scene. They identified her as Alexa White from Fort Cavazos. EMS crews transported the three injured individuals to nearby hospitals for treatment.
At this time, the surviving occupants’ physical conditions are unknown, and it is unclear what vehicle White was traveling in.
Police have launched an investigation. The public is urged to contact the police department immediately if they can offer more insight into Monday’s wreck.
