NEAR ADRIAN, TX – A driver of a semi had drifted onto a middle lane on I-40, going the wrong way, leading to a collision with a 2022 Chrysler Pacifica that killed two people.
This crash happened before 2:30 p.m. Sunday on the eastbound lanes, according to ABC 7 Amarillo. The driver of the Chrysler Pacifica swerved to try and avoid hitting the truck but ended up striking the trailer’s back axle.
Texas Department of Public Safety said the Chrysler driver, identified as 51-year-old Candice Davis from Mustang, Oklahoma, 23-year-old Mckenna Davis also from Mustang, and 70-year-old Mark Hedeen, were sent to Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo for treatment of serious injuries.
The two other individuals who lost their lives were also from the minivan. Officials identified them as Elvin Heggen and Emelita Hedden but have not confirmed their ages.
Officials have not provided an update on the semi-driver’s current condition.
