MIDLAND, TX – Authorities are investigating a semi crash that claimed the life of a 63-year-old cyclist in Midland last week, reports KOSA 7.
Police say the fatal crash occurred just after 7:30 p.m. Friday on the eastbound frontage road for I-20 Business between North County Road 1105 and North County Road 1090 in the northeastern outskirts of the city.
The initial investigation indicates that an eastbound big rig struck the rear of an eastbound electric bike.
Authorities declared the cyclist deceased at the scene, identifying her as 63-year-old Tamara Jan Cates.
No other injuries have been reported in connection to the crash, and it’s unclear if the truck driver will face charges.
The investigation is ongoing.
