Semi overturns in Webb Co., taking driver’s life

WEBB COUNTY, TX – A 38-year-old male semi-truck driver died after his truck had crashed and overturned on State Highway 44 Tuesday, KGNS TV reports.

The motorist had lost control of his vehicle, which ultimately led to the crash and caused several pounds of sand to spill from the truck. The driver was either pinned or entrapped and required extrication by Webb County Fire Rescue crews.

Fire crews were able to extricate the man successfully. However, he succumbed to his injuries a short time later. He has since been identified as Jeremiah James Lowery, from Tucson, Arizona.

Texas Department of Transportation, U.S. Border Patrol, Webb County Sheriff’s Office, and Texas Department of Public Safety’s highway patrol division also all responded to the scene.

State troopers are actively working to pinpoint why Lowery lost control of his truck.
