HOUSTON, TX – A tanker truck driver died as a result of a fiery collision that happened at the intersection of U.S. 90 Alternate and Fondren Street Saturday.
The collision took place around 9:15 a.m. and warranted a quick response from local fire crews, Click2Houston reports. Upon arrival, firefighters shut down the southbound lanes for several hours to extinguish the flames. By 2:30 p.m., officials reopened all northbound lanes, and the southbound lanes were expected to continue with closures for the next two to four hours.
EMS crews transported one firefighter to Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center for heat exhaustion. He has since recovered.
No other injuries were reported. No other vehicles appeared to have been involved.
