One dead after car rear-ends semi-truck in Midland 

MIDLAND, TX – A 25-year-old man died after rear-ending a semi-truck with his car on Texas 349 North Saturday, YourBasin reports.

The collision happened before 4:30 a.m. The 25-year-old man was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu and was tailgating a 2000 Volvo semi-truck. He failed to slow down and rear-ended the truck, leading him to succumb to his injuries at the scene.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said the car driver was not wearing a seatbelt while operating his vehicle. They have since identified him as Aaron Contreras from Lamesa.

The truck driver was unharmed and wore a seatbelt. DPS identified him as Benjamin Tenorio of Midland.
