North Austin wrong-way collision involving big rig claims one life 

NORTH AUSTIN, TX – One person was killed in a wrong-way collision that involved a big rig Thursday, KVUE reports. 

The crash happened around 2:15 a.m. on the 12200th block of North Interstate Highway 35. It was there that a driver of a passenger vehicle appeared to drive the wrong way and collided head-on with the big rig. 

The vehicle passenger died from their injuries at the scene. 

Austin Police and Texas Department of Transportation crews issued several-hour-long closures. During the lengthy shutdowns, drivers were redirected to Tech Ridge Boulevard. All lanes reopened before 8 a.m. 

The police department has not released the victim’s name and has not confirmed the contributing factors behind Thursday’s deadly collision.
