Minor injuries reported after truck nearly crashes off Jefferson County overpass

JEFFERSON COUNTY, TX – Authorities responded to a collision Wednesday in Nederland that left a dump truck dangling over the ledge of a highway overpass, according to 12 News.

The incident took place on U.S. Highway 96, leaving all northbound lanes between Helena and Nederland avenues blocked.

It remains unclear at this time what led up to the crash, but the driver said he lost control of the truck as it had a tire blow out while traveling northbound. Moments before the vehicle appeared like it would veer off the overpass, he managed to jump out.

First responders arrived on the scene to find the truck’s front-end hanging over the edge. Crews were able to clear oil that was seen leaking from the truck.

While no other vehicles were impacted by the wreck, the driver suffered minor injuries.
