Man, 31, killed in right turn semi wreck near Dalhart

NEAR DALHART, TX – A Volo semi-trailer turning right from a private driveway and onto FM 281 West had detached, causing a crash with another semi that killed a 31-year-old man Thursday.

According to My High Plains, preliminary details from Texas Department of Public Safety showed that the second semi-truck driver, the 31-year-old man identified as Jesus Castillo-Rosas of Dumas, did what he could to stop himself from hitting the detached trailer. However, the inevitable occurred, leading Castillo-Rosas’s Mack truck to get pushed into a ditch facing north.

The detached trailer had also landed in a ditch, overturning on its side in the process.

Due to the severity of this wreck, Castillo-Rosas succumbed to fatal wounds at the scene.

Paramedics on site evaluated the Volo semi-motorist for physical pain. It was unclear if this driver required treatment, but officials confirmed they were released.

DPS has launched an investigation and has not released other details at this time.
