MIDLAND, TX – A 26-year-old man driving a 2021 Ram 2500 pickup truck died after rear-ending a 1996 Freightliner semi-truck on State Highway 158 Tuesday.
YourBasin said that this collision happened before 6:45 a.m. near East County Road 160. The Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the scene. They said the truck driver was spared from injuries and had confirmed that the 26-year-old man passed away at the scene. Troopers have identified him as Christopher Aaron Vargas from San Angelo.
Authorities suspect Vargas did not wear a seatbelt, which could have played a role in his death. Nonetheless, an investigation is underway. New details will be provided as our newsroom learns more.
