Foggy collision near Happy Valley claims semi driver’s life

NEAR HAPPY VALLEY, TX – A three-vehicle collision on a Thursday foggy morning took the life of a semi-truck driver and injured a family inside a car.

The Texas Department of Public Safety told Big County Home that the crash happened when the big rig driver hit a dump truck at the intersection of Highway 153 and CR 196. A short time later, a car struck the tractor-trailer. The impact of the collision had entrapped the 18-wheeler motorist inside his vehicle and led the family inside the car to sustain minor wounds.

The semi-truck driver had suffered fatal injuries and has been identified as Cesar Josevan Espinosa Manso, a Houston man. The trash truck driver was unharmed.

The surviving occupants remained at the scene. Car passengers told investigators that their road visibility was reduced because of the fog. Troopers made a note of this comment and are actively working to determine if foggy conditions could have also hindered the victim’s ability to clearly see the road, and therefore acting as a direct contribution to Thursday’s wreck.
