AUSTIN, TX – One person was left in critical condition, and four others were injured in a collision between a sedan and a transport truck Saturday.
CBS Austin said this crash occurred before 9:30 p.m. at the East Oltorf Street and South Congress Avenue intersection. Austin Travis County Emergency Medical Services and Austin Fire Rescue were summoned to the scene.
Fire crews managed to extricate the five individuals from their sedan after it got trapped underneath the transport truck.
An ambulance took the person (who was issued a trauma alert) with critical, life-threatening wounds to Dell Seton Medical Center and two adults to St. David’s South Medical Center for injuries deemed potentially serious and serious. A child suffered non-life-threatening wounds and was sent to Dell Children’s Medical Center.
Officials said the fifth occupant also suffered non-life-threatening injuries. At the time of reporting, emergency crews said the person was going to go to the hospital but did not clarify if the transportation actually occurred.
