FORT BEND COUNTY, TX – One person lost their life Wednesday morning in Richmond following a train vs. truck collision that left two other people injured, according to Click2Houston.
The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene of the fatal accident on FM 762 Road at FM 2759, at about 6:45 a.m.
While officials have not immediately indicated the cause of the collision, investigators observed that the dirt-road intersection is not well lit, and no lights, stop signs or other safety barriers were present despite a marked railroad crossing.
A preliminary investigation indicates the victim was driving a dump truck and was traveling toward FM 2579 when the vehicle was struck by the train.
First responders pronounced the truck driver deceased at the scene.
While no one aboard the train was reported injured, the two operators were transported to an area hospital to be evaluated for non-life-threatening injuries.
