NEAR BEAUMONT, TX – A tow truck driver was allegedly speeding when he rear-ended a Mack trash truck on U.S. Highway 90, which resulted in his death and injured two others.
The collision happened around noon Tuesday on the eastbound lanes in the outskirts of Beaumont, 12News Now reports. The tow truck driver was operating a rollback tow truck with an attached Chevrolet passenger car at the time of the accident.
The tow truck driver died at the scene, while EMS crews took the trash truck driver and passenger to St. Elizabeth Hospital.
The surviving occupants are recovering from non-life-threatening wounds. The tow truck driver has been identified as Brandon Pitri, 40, from Magnolia.
The Texas Department of Public Safety started an investigation and has not released other information.
