CUMBERLAND COUNTY, TN — A big rig overturned during a near-collision with a passenger car Monday on Interstate 40 near Crab Orchard, according to 3B Median News.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol said the incident occurred at mile marker 331, past Market Street.
An early investigation indicates that a 48-year-old New Jersey resident was operating a 2024 Volvo tractor-trailer eastbound and trying to negotiate a curve in the roadway when the trailer failed to track behind the cab.
As the trailer veered into a lane occupied by a 2005 Toyota Camry, its driver, 49, took an evasive move. Moments later, the Toyota left the roadway, entered the median, and hit a boulder. As a result of the near-crash, the tractor-trailer rolled onto its side and came to rest on the interstate.
Officials said neither driver reported injuries in the event.
