KNOXVILLE, TN — Authorities responded to an injury crash involving a pedestrian and a big rig Thursday morning on Interstate 40 near Knoxville, reports WATE.
The incident occurred on the westbound lanes near the Loudon-Knox county line. It was first reported by Tennessee Department of Transportation officials at 7:56 a.m.
According to the crash report, a pedestrian was hit by a 2024 Volvo tractor-trailer moments after they abruptly entered the roadway. The vehicle came to a stop in the roadway following the impact.
While the pedestrian was reported hurt following the event, their injuries were said to be non-fatal.
Motorists were asked to seek alternate routes around the area, as a traffic backup had extended down to Campbell Station Road at the time of the initial report.
