Man hospitalized following Jeep, semi rear-end collision in Smyrna 

SMYRNA, TN – A 35-year-old man was airlifted to a hospital after a rear-end collision between a 2014 Jeep Wrangler and a 2024 Peterbilt semi-truck on I-24 East Friday. 

The events unfolded when the 35-year-old man, driving the Jeep, rear-ended the semi truck’s trailer as it was merging from the interstate shoulder and into the interstate lanes, WGNS Radio reports. 

The Jeep driver was left in serious condition, while his passengers, a 1-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy, were unharmed. 

The semi-truck driver was also uninjured. 

The Jeep driver was identified as Beyar Yahya of Middle Tennessee, and the truck driver as 63-year-old Richard Sumner. 

Tennessee Highway Patrol confirmed all occupants wore seatbelts and has not announced any charges at this time.
