GREENE COUNTY, TN – A driver with Greene County Solid Waste died Monday morning after their truck overturned near a Greeneville intersection, according to WVLT.
The fatal crash occurred on a stretch of East McKee Street near Winchester Drive, at about 9:22 a.m.
Greeneville Police said the victim was driving west on East McKee Street when the Greene County Solid Waste truck they were driving ran off the side of the roadway near the intersection. Shortly after it re-entered the roadway, the truck overturned onto its passenger side. Its cab then collided with a tree on the other side of the roadway.
According to the GPD crash report, the incident unfolded over wet and slippery road conditions, and the truck was disabled by the damage it sustained.
While Greeneville Fire Department crews and the Greeneville Emergency and Rescue Squad were able to extricate the driver of the truck, the victim was pronounced deceased following the crash.
