Driver airlifted to hospital after rollover semi crash on I-65 in Giles County

GILES COUNTY, TN — One person was injured Sunday afternoon when a commercial motor vehicle overturned on Interstate 65 near southwest Cornersville, reports WKRN.

The accident happened on the southbound lanes at mile marker 19.6, just past Clock Creek Road, at around 1:30 p.m.

Giles County Fire and Rescue crews and Giles County EMS personnel worked to extricate the driver from the rolled 18-wheeler. He was then transported by medical helicopter to a Huntsville, Alabama hospital. No other information concerning his condition has been shared, and no other injuries have been reported.

One of the two southbound lanes was shut down as crews worked to clear the roadway.

Fire officials said another crash involving two vehicles occurred during the partial closure, but only minor injuries were reported.

By 10:25 p.m. the same day, Tennessee Department of Transportation’s (TDOT) traffic map indicated that the southbound right lane and right shoulder closure remained in place.
