MCMINN COUNTY, TN — One person suffered serious injuries as a result of a two-vehicle wreck early last Thursday, December 28, in Etowah, according to WDEF.
While the WDEF report does not disclose the exact location, the wreck occurred on a stretch of U.S. Highway 411 (TN-33) within city limits. Crews with the Etowah Rescue Squad and Rural Fire Department, as well as the Tennessee Highway Patrol, responded to the scene some time after 3:00 a.m.
Officials did not immediately provide a sequence of events leading up to the crash, but the victim was operating a pickup truck when it collided head-on with a semi-truck.
First responders worked for nearly 30 minutes to extricate the driver of the pickup, who was left trapped inside the wreckage. The patient was then flown by Lifeforce to Erlanger for serious injuries.
It was unclear whether the driver of the semi was injured.
