Box truck driver hurt in rainy collision in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, TN – A box truck driver was sent to a hospital for minor injuries after crashing into an embankment off Mount Zion Road on a rainy Wednesday.

The events unfolded before 3:30 a.m. in the area of Highway 431 and Highway 49 when the truck began to slide sideways when negotiating a curve, SmokeyBarn reports. The aftermath left the truck without its front wheels, which could be seen down an embankment, and the rear wheels near the centerline of the road.

The collision left Mount Zion Road completely blocked, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department, the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office, Robertson County EMS, and the Robertson County Emergency Management Agency were all summoned to the scene.

Officials had to shut down the road for several hours to accommodate the scene clearance and THP’s investigation. Troopers have not released additional information at this time.
