Update: SC trooper dies after getting hit by box truck in Orangeburg Co. 

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC – A South Carolina Highway Patrol trooper who was seriously injured after getting hit by a box truck on Sunday has since died, according to an update from LiveNews.

The trooper, Dennis Ricks, was conducting a traffic stop when he was struck by a box truck passing through. The crash occurred around 2 a.m. and called for a quick response from medical helicopter personnel, who airlifted Ricks to a North Charleston hospital. There, he later died.

The box truck driver was identified as 45-year-old Anthony Aydlette from Hanahan. He was charged with driving under suspicion. He appeared virtually for a hearing at the Orangeburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday. The judge granted Aydlette a $647.50 bond.
