SPARTANBURG COUNTY, SC — Authorities have confirmed that three children were among the five people who died Saturday night, February 24, after their car was struck by a car hauler near Inman, according to WSAZ.
The accident happened on Interstate 26 near mile marker 12, south of Calvery Road, on February 24 at around 9:30 p.m.

Three children in the Honda, including a 14-year-old, an 11-year-old, and an 8-year-old, were all pronounced deceased at the scene. A fourth victim has been identified as Ashia Ballenger, 35. At the time of WSAZ’s update, officials were working to positively ID the fifth victim.
The driver and sole occupant of the car hauler was taken to a local hospital, but no information about their condition has been shared.
The driver of the Toyota was not reported injured.
