BATESBURG, SC – A semi truck’s tire blew out, causing the driver, a 28-year-old man, to lose control of the truck and collide with a tree, leading to his death Tuesday.
This solo collision occurred around 2:30 a.m. on I-20 West near mile marker 35, WFXG reported. When the 2005 Kenworth truck came into contact with the tree, the driver was thrown from the truck and succumbed to fatal wounds.
The Aiken County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Emmanuel Jones from Montgomery, Alabama.
South Carolina Highway Patrol, who responded to the scene, along with the coroner’s office, is continuing their investigation and have not provided additional information pertaining to Tuesday’s wreck.
