Passenger loses life following sedan and fire truck accident in Dentsville 

DENTSVILLE, SC – A 64-year-old female passenger inside a sedan lost her life after getting struck by a fire engine truck east of Columbia Place Mall Saturday.

The crash happened around 7 p.m. at the intersection of Two Notch Road and Decker Boulevard, according to WISTV reports. Preliminary details reveal that the fire engine truck, with sirens and lights activated, was on its way to put out a fire on Bradfore Ridge Lane when they crashed into the sedan.

The woman died from her injuries a short time later. She has since been identified as Carolyn Collins from Columbia. The four firefighters who were traveling in the fire engine truck had to go to the hospital for treatment of their injuries and have since been released.

South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the details behind the collision, and the Columbia-Richland Fire Department will conduct an internal investigation.
