CLARENDON COUNTY, SC — A passenger died last Thursday evening, February 15, following a tractor-trailer crash near Summerton that left another person injured, reports WISTV.
The fatal collision took place on northbound U.S. Highway 301 at Liberty Hill Road at about 5:52 p.m.
South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers said the semi was heading northbound on US-301 when it overturned while turning left onto Liberty Hill Road.
First responders pronounced the passenger of the big rig deceased at the scene.
The driver was rushed to McLeod Clarendon Hospital with unspecified injuries. An investigation by the SCHP remains open and ongoing.
