Male pedestrian hit, killed by semi near NE Summerville

DORCHESTER COUNTY, SC — A 44-year-old man died late Monday following a pedestrian crash involving a semi-truck near northeast Summerville, according to The State.

South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers say the fatal incident occurred on Black Tom Road near Cane Bay Boulevard, in Moncks Corner. It was first reported at around 11:00 p.m.

According to the SCHP press release, Eugene Kelly Jr., a Summerville resident, was attempting to cross the road on foot when he was hit by a tractor-trailer.

The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office confirmed the victim died from his injuries at the scene.

No injuries to the semi driver or anyone else have been reported.

The SCHP continues to investigate.
