Driver dies following crash with Peterbilt truck near Summerville

CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC — One person has died following a crash involving a commercial truck Friday morning near west Summerville, reports Live 5 News.

The accident happened at the intersection of Jedburg Road and Wildgame Road at around 8:09 a.m.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a 2001 Peterbilt commercial truck was traveling eastbound on Jedburg Road when a 2003 GMC SUV that was heading north on Wildgame turned left onto Jedburg. Moments later, the GMC was struck by the Peterbilt truck.

While the driver and sole occupant of the truck was uninjured, the driver of the GMC was rushed to Trident Medical Center where they were pronounced deceased on Saturday night. The decedent’s identity has not been disclosed at this time.

The SCHP continues to investigate.
