Driver dies after head-on crash with 18-wheeler on SC-101 in Greer

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, SC — One person died Tuesday evening after a collision involving a big rig on State Highway 1o1 in Greer, according to FOX Carolina.

South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers responded to the scene on an unspecified stretch of SC-101 at about 4:35 p.m.

Authorities said a truck was traveling on the highway when, for reasons still unclear, it veered past the center line and collided head-on with a tractor-trailer.

First responders pronounced the driver of the truck deceased at the scene. He has since been identified by the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office as Kyle David Jenkins, 37, of Simpsonville.

No other injuries have been reported following the incident.

An investigation remains in progress.
